If you need peace and quiet and yet not be too far from your hotel or modern conveniences, then Dominicalito is perfect for you.
 

Playa DominicalitoHere the water is crystal blue and calm. And if you feel like a cold beer and a seafood dinner, you need not travel far since all the restaurants are right on the Beach.

A short walk to a rockier part of the Beach in Dominicalito, you can explore the tide pools that are formed at low tide. One can find many types of starfish, lobsters, crabs, birds, colorful fish, eatable fish, manta rays, sea cucumbers, hermits, among others This is also a favorite area for the fishermen, who are always lucky when fishing for bass, rooster fish, red snapper, and many others.

Near Dominicalito you can enjoy a swim at the outlet of the river, in a pool of fresh water only a few meters from the ocean, or if you have a vehicle, you can drive toward the mountain (1 ½ km) and to ask where to find “Posa Azul” (very well-known place for the locals). It is a natural pool formed at the foot of a waterfall, with fresh and clear water. It’s a nice place to swim or sit under the falls and enjoy a nice back massage. And all of this free of charge!

Where to stay: In the area around Dominicalito there is an abundance of hotels. You can also rent a house or cabin for you and your family. Prices will vary depending on the time of year and location. If you are looking for affordable, ask for a “cabina”. Lodging prices will range anywhere between $7 and $50 per night. You may also decide to stay in Dominical since it is just a short drive to Dominicalito.

Getting there: it is located about 5km south of Dominical.

What to do: body surfing, boogie boarding, fishing off shore, camping, swimming in the ocean or river, sport fishing, Tours to the Islands, scuba diving, Soccer or Beach volleyball, or diving in the natural pools that are formed by the rocks.

Activities that are prohibited:: swimming where the lifeguards indicate that it is dangerous, throwing garbage on the Beach or in the streets. The maximum speed limit in town is 25 km/h. Driving of motor vehicles is prohibited on the Beach (according to law of traffic #7331). Hunting or the abuse or pursuit of wild animals such as garrobos, iguanas and birds is prohibited, as well as fishing with poison, nets, or spear guns. Bonfires are also restricted as much of the firewood is home to many creatures.
